Thank you for purchasing a Prepaid Travel SIM Card. We’re so excited that you chose our SIMs to be apart of your travels. Before you embark on your adventures, there are some handy things you should know.
1. Before You Depart
Ensure your phone is unlocked from your Aussie Carrier. Check that you have provided the correct SIM activation date/s.
Important! Please only insert the SIM in a covered country.
2. Activating Your SIM
Your Europe & UK SIM card will be set up for activation based on the "SIM Activation Date" you nominated at purchase. We process SIM activations between 5AM - 6AM UK - London time (GMT). Please ensure you provide us with the actual date you wish to begin SIM use and insert the SIM in your phone on the nominated date.
When you arrive at your destination, insert the SIM into your phone. Switch on roaming if outside of the UK.
iOS - Settings - Mobile - Mobile Data Options - Toggle Data Roaming to On
Android - Connections - Mobile networks - Toggle Data Roaming to On
Pixel - Settings - Network and Internet - Mobile network - Toggle Roaming to On
Upon your device picking up cellular reception, you will receive a welcoming message containing your UK mobile number and another message confirming credit being applied by the network. This credit is then automatically deducted when your purchased data pack/plan is activated (example below).
Note: The network actively scans for SIM use hourly. Depending on when you have inserted your SIM and which country you're in, please allow up to 1-2 hours for the network to detect the SIM in your device and to activate the data pack.
If you don't receive the message confirming your data pack "is now active and good to go". Please get in touch with us!
Important!
Once your SIM's data pack is successfully activated, you will receive a final text which says "you have run out of cash credit". This is a standard text and can be ignored.
You do not need to add funds to your SIM or pay more to activate your SIM's plan.
3. Making Calls & Sending Texts
Calls & Texts in Europe
When using the SIM in Europe, It is important to use the correct country specific dial out codes. Eg. To call a number in France, you need to dial +33 followed by the telephone number without the first digit. To call back to the UK, you need to dial +44 followed by the telephone number.
Calls & Texts in the UK
To make calls to standard UK numbers whilst in the UK, you can dial the numbers directly without any dial out codes.
Calls & Texts to Australia
International calls and sms to Australia are not included as a feature of this SIM. To make calls and send texts to Australia, we recommend using VoIP apps such as Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook Chat, Wechat, Skype etc.
Receiving Calls & Texts From Australia
Your friends and family can call and text your assigned UK mobile number by dialling the UK prefix +44 Eg. +44 7654 321 123. Incoming calls are free for you. If the person calling you does not have free calls to UK numbers as part of their plan, they may be charged international calling rates.
To receive calls and send texts from Australia, we recommend using VoIP apps such as Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook Chat, Wechat, Skype etc.
Note: If incorrect dial out codes are used, you will receive a nil balance/top up message - This is because the network does not recognise the location of the number you're dialling. It does not mean you've run out of credit.
4. Checking Balances
The easiest way to monitor data usage is via your phone's network settings. There should be a data tracker which lets you know how much roaming data has been used since inserting the SIM.
The other method is to register an account with Three UK after successful activation of your SIM card. You will need to sign up and login at: https://new.three.co.uk/account/login

6. FAQs
Q. I am traveling for more than 30 days. Can the Europe & UK SIM be recharged?
A. UK networks only allow 30 days of roaming coverage in Europe. Recharges are only allowed if the SIM is being used inside the UK exclusively. We recommend picking up multiple SIMs and staggering the activation dates to cover the entire duration of your travels.
Note: If you're using the UK SIM inside the UK exclusively, your SIM can be recharged in any Three UK retail store. https://locator.three.co.uk/search
Q. My travel dates have changed. How do I update the SIM activation date/s
A. To update your SIM activation date/s, please email us at hello@prepaidsims.com.au with your order number, SIM card number/s, and revised activation date/s. You must email us any changes prior to the activation taking place. Once the SIM is activated. It can no longer be changed.
Q. I have run out of data. Can I top up/add more data?
A. Unfortunately data top ups are not possible. We recommend buying multiple SIMs and staggering use.
Q. My travel group and I all have the same SIM, how do we call each other?
A. To make calls between SIMs in Europe, dial +44 followed by the number without the 0 (first digit). To make calls between SIMs inside the UK, dial the 07 number directly without the +44 prefix.
Q. Can I forward calls from my Australian number to my UK mobile number?
A. You will need to check with your Australian carrier if they allow call diversions to international numbers. This is because anyone calling you may not be aware they're being diverted to an international number, which may cost them.
Q. I have activated my SIM, calls and texts are working but data is not working?
A. If calls and texts are working but data is not. Please check that the APN your device has automatically configured to is correct. https://devicesupport.three.co.uk/
